In the 1930’s there were more than 3700 wooden grain elevators in Alberta. Today there are less than 200. Inspired by the people of Nanton AB http://www.nantonelevators.com and their quest to save their wooden grain elevators which are still standing, this song was born. It parallels the plight of the Canadian Farmer:
“If we’re still standing, a hundred years or more
Your children’s, children’s kin will remember who you were
If we’re still standing …”
