Scotland Sept 2006
"Writing about the soldiers who placed the Stones of Signal Hill, was the beginning of a rich Canadian history unfolding before me.
And it is indirectly the reason for my trip to Scotland. The Stones led me to David Argo, after the Museum of the Regiments asked me to archive his letters (WW1) to his wife Mae back here in Calgary. To find out that his nephew, born a month after David died on the front lines in France, was still alive, named David Argo and still living in Tillymaud, Scotland - well, I knew I had to go and deliver David and Mae's songs.

Ann Morrow Lindberg is teaching me to 'stay in the stream" She authored Gifts From the Sea - now an antique written fifty years ago - while consuming a chunk of time away from her family and daily routine to observe and write alone by the sea. She explains that women's roles change at different stages of life and how vital it is for the spirit to take time for itself. So the words of Ann Morrow Lindberg are my guide. "Stay in the stream" means to have no expectations of others but set goals and go do. Getting caught on branches like worry or trying to force or control circumstance or people, bog the spirit.
There are higher powers to trust as I make my way on a writing journey promising myself to explore with courage and go with the flow.
(Ann Morrow Lindberg was the mom of the Lindberg baby who was kidnapped and murdered. Her words are born of experience.)

Now that the kids have grown and my role is re-defined I am celebrating. With a full back pack, guitar and newly released 15 song/16 page booklet CD, my Greyhound bus pass will take me around Ontario and even perhaps Montreal. This is a month long trip that will be a template for future trips.
A journey into Ontario, the place I was born and raised AND a journey into me; a middle aged woman realizing a world of possibilities, like being 18, but with the confidence of many years life experience....
