Discussing Scottish signs

David, Anne, Bob and Allan Pack
My friends! |
We walk through a sample of Scotland’s pouring rain. The wind blows harsh
from the sea but we scramble, chittering (shivering with cold) to take a few
more photos anyway.
The Pack family is so kind and lots of fun. We discuss the signs around
Scotland that indicate round-abouts and humps! I’ve taken photos of the funnier
ones to include in a slideshow when I return to Canada. They have invited
Gillian and Stuart on my last night here and I am taking notes as Gillian
browses a Scottish dictionary and of course Stuart roleplays the definition so I
understand each meaning. Oh I wish I had a movie camera for this! The men
discuss which product is better Hob-brite or Ferry Power. (I’ll let you figure
out that one) And I will take Gillian’s advice and not go to the scratcher in
the scuddy, cause it would be a real minging, scunner.
The homemade teas have been delicious by all my hosts. Haggis, chappit
tatties and bashit neeps are my favourites. Shortbread, sticky toffee pudding
and scones supplied all my protein! (J) But the best was the cream! The cream in
Scotland and Ireland is incomparable to Canada. Their cows graze on green grass
much longer in the year and the flavour is so rich! Probably also why the
Cadbury chocolate tastes so good here!
